This set of “rules” comes from the 18th century and, wow, these rules look like they were written with today’s business in mind! I discovered these in C.J. Hayden’s excellent book, “Get Clients Now“. The exact resource for the list is unknown. Bottom line? Stay in front of your prospects and clients. Regular consistent efforts do AND will pay off!

1. The first time a man looks at an advertisement, he does not see it.
2. The second time, he does not notice it.
3. The third time, he is conscious of it.
4. The fourth time, he faintly remembers having seen it before.
5. The fifth time, he reads it.
6. The sixth time, he turns it up his nose up at it.
7. The seventh time, he reads it through and says, “Oh, brother!”
8. The eighth time, he says, “Here’s that confounded thing again!”
9. The ninth time, he wonders if it amounts to anything.
10. The tenth time, he asks his neighbor if he has tried it.
11. The eleventh time, he wonders how the advertiser makes it pay.
12. The twelfth time, he thinks it must be a good thing.
13. The thirteenth time, he thinks perhaps it might be worth something.
14. The fourteenth time, he remembers wanting such a think a long time.
15. The fifteenth time, he is tantalized because he cannot afford to buy it.
16. The sixteenth time, he thinks he will buy it some day.
17. The seventeenth time, he makes a memorandum to buy it.
18. The eighteenth time, he swears at his poverty.
19. The nineteenth time, he counts his money carefully.
20. The twentieth time he sees the ad, he buys what it is offering.

Careful, Your Attitude is Showing!

optimism

Has the constant stream of negative news affected you yet? It’s hard to avoid hearing about it.

Everywhere we turn, whether it’s surfing the Internet, reading the paper, listening to the radio or chatting with our neighbor, the topic revolves around the “crash and burn” of Wall Street with steady servings of heated and divisive political commentary. This can’t be good for us!

The bottom line is that YOU are in the driver’s seat of your life and your business.

The current state of affairs has all of us paying attention, doesn’t it? It’s hard to avoid the hot topics these days, but is this overload of negative news triggering your fears? The single most important factor in staying resilient during difficult times is our attitude. What is your viewpoint? Do you think the future will be mostly good or mostly bad? If you believe it will be mostly good, then you’ll be motivated to do what it takes to get through tough times. As Henry Ford once said, “If you think you can, if you think you can’t, either way, you are right.” Necessity is the mother of motivation! The formula for attaining successful results is your creativity, courage, and positive expectations!

Simple, Yet Powerful Ways to Make More Money and Enjoy Life

On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest, how satisfied and happy are you with your personal and professional life?

Is it easy for you to achieve your dreams and goals consistently?

I hope your answer is an enthusiastic YES! And if it is, I congratulate you and encourage you to keep it up! For many people, however, their results are mixed. Sometimes they get what they want, but often they don’t! It’s very painful to feel stuck, to feel like you aren’t moving forward and achieving your big goals and dreams.

Here’s a simple tip that will make a huge impact on your results FAST! If you want blockbuster results, then you will want to know how to use this often forgotten action step, which I simply call, “Ask for What You Want.”

Absolutely every goal and every dream that you have begins with a thought, which is, “I want: fill in the blank.”

Rather an obvious point, but stay with me. By powerfully deciding your goal, you are asking for what you want, which is a brilliant starting point to achieving your goal.

Here’s where many of my clients get stuck. They forget the magic of asking for what they want!

Here’s an example of “asking for what you want” in action:

Yes, it’s true. The economy is changing. It can be a scary time, or a time to “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” and take care of business. I see business owners fretting, complaining, and getting stressed out with all the news and “evidence” of a shaky economy. I see business owners getting stuck in a rut, doing the same strategies over and over again, hoping for better results, and disappointed they are NOT getting the results they want.

Einstein said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and then expecting a different result.” Could this be you? Are you stuck in a rut with how you do business? It’s pretty common.

One of the quickest and easiest ways to attract new prospects to do business with you is to give them an opportunity to “sample” your product or service. Baskin Robbins Ice Cream store knew this and offered free samples of ice cream with their now-famous pink spoon. I have vivid memories of myself at age 10 going over to the Baskin Robbins store after my weekly ballet class. Before I chose my flavor of ice cream, I asked for a sample and, of course, got a pink spoonful of some delicious new flavor. Baskin Robbins knew they “had” a customer and created a bond with me as a repeat and loyal customer for YEARS! The bottom line here for you as a business owner in a challenging economy is to innovate and do things differently to increase your money flow.

There’s an old adage, “success breeds success.” I’ve personally found this to be true. Look around and you will see evidence of this, too. Think Tiger Woods, Oprah, Martha, and Donald Trump.

Are you so busy focusing on the next “big thing” that you forget to acknowledge what you have accomplished?

Lots of people make that mistake. One of my mentors, Kendall Summerhawk, starts our coaching calls with the question: “What successes did you have this week?” Kendall taught me the importance of acknowledging your wins. Whether they be big or small, you take them all!

Two critical things happen when you take the time to appreciate your successes:
