Summer Reading

by Diana Long on August 21, 2008

Here are just a few books that I’ve read this summer that I heartily recommend:

Harmonic WealthJames Ray
This book is all about “living the law of attraction”.  I recently saw James Ray live. He’s dynamite and his book provides reminders of the importance of a positive attitude, generosity, and the power of your intentions.

Eat, Taste, Heal
Vibrant health the Ayruvedic way – Authored by two doctors and a professional chef, this beautiful, simple cookbook has color photographs (I like a cookbook that shows me what the end result is supposed to look like). The recipes are “friendly” to those of us who have food sensitivity (gluten and dairy).

Catching the Big FishDavid Lynch
In this national bestseller, the acclaimed filmmaker David Lynch provides a rare window into his methods as an artist, his way of capturing and working with ideas, and the immense creative benefits he has experienced from the practice of meditation.  It is equally compelling to any who wonder how they can nurture their own creativity.

The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business is Selling Less of More
Chris Anderson
Chris Anderson is the Editor in Chief of Weird Magazine and was the US business editor of The Economist.  In this book, Chris shows how the future of commerce and culture isn’t in “hits”, but in the endlessly long tail of making products in the demand curve.

The No BS Way to Market to the AffluentDan Kennedy
Dan Kennedy is well known to business owners who are looking to market their businesses effectively both online and offline. Dan has a series of “No BS” books and this is his latest offering. Dan’s style is “cranky” (his own description), yet his business and marketing advice is right on the money!
