We Become What We Think About Most

by Diana Long on July 11, 2008

Earl Nightingale, known Grandfather of the Success Strategists, says, “We become what we think about most.”

These days it’s hard to avoid the Constant Negative News (my pet name for CNN).  In my recent trip across the country, every newspaper, TV clip, and internet news I saw reflected the doom and gloom and talk of the recession.

Have you ever had someone taste something they say is gross and then push it in front of you, and say, “This is really yucky.  Try it!”  What do you think?  Why would anyone do this?  But often, we do as we’re asked and try the offensive item.

That’s a little bit like how it is with current affairs.  If we accept the constant diet of negative news that the media feeds us and discuss and engage in conversations around us, we will without fail begin to believe the stories we hear and repeat them to others. Doing so weakens our energy levels and drains our ambitions. My coaching tip of the day? Stay clear of all negative news and naysayers! Stay true to your goals and dreams and take consistant daily actions.

To Your Success,
